Do You Have An “Inspiration Re-Fuelling Calendar”?

By Mike Krsticevic | February 25, 2008

“What da!?”, you say.

I know it my sound a little odd but I think it’s critical to have one and use it regularly.

Let me explain.

There are three (3) components:

  1. Inspiration - Everyone works faster, more efficiently and with greater joy when they are inspired. I’m no exception. Therefore, wouldn’t it be useful to …
  2. Re-Fuelling - … get re-inspired from time to time to give yourself that extra bit (sometimes a huge dose) of a push/shove to face your challenges or recommit to your goals. If so, it’s important that you …
  3. Calendar - … set aside time to regularly take steps to reinvigorate/re-inspire yourself. If it’s left to chance then you don’t control your life as much as you could - you don’t actively take steps to ignite the flame inside you to “Give Your Best!“.

I am assume your next questions might be WHAT do I do to re-inspire myself and HOW?

The WHAT

Creating an “Inspiration Re-Fuelling Calendar” is simple. You simply use a calendar/diary or other daily tracking device to pre-plan activities that you know you enjoy and that remind you of “why” you are striving for a certain goal or goals.

The HOW

Take these steps:

  1. decide on what you find inspiring and why (make a list as long as you can, eg, at least 50 things - it will get easy once you get on a roll);
  2. categorise the sources of inspiration into those that are “short, sweet and simple” (eg, play a song you love) and those that are more involved (eg, take a joy flight in a helicopter);
  3. decide how often you’d would like to re-inspire/rejuvinate/reinvigorate yourself (eg, do this thing every morning or every year or just once, etc);
  4. pull out your calendar/diary and start planning ahead when you will ‘do your inspirations’;
  5. if your ‘inspiration’ action is more involved, write down precedings steps you need to take in advance of the ‘inspiration event’, eg, find providers of helicopter joy flights and book in a flight; and then ..
  6. … DO THEM!!! Don’t miss them!!!
